Richmond Black Restaurant Experience began as a celebratory week dedicated to supporting Richmond’s growing black culinary industry and tourism scene. It aims to counter economic disparity within Minority Owned businesses with interactive solutions that engage a deeper understanding of Richmond and its food culture.

Your talent was a heartbeat in the soundtrack of Black culture. From our generation’s Cruising down Broad Street to vibing and analyzing that Brown Sugar, babe! — your music carried stories, healing, and strength for generations.

Music is our collective memory of our resistance, our refuge, and our celebration. And celebrate we did! When you hit 106 & Park, an award show, or a magazine cover, we scheduled time to sit in front of the TV or said, “I’mma save this one,” when it came to that Vibe or Essence feature.

The entire 804 claimed a piece of you.
The entire world eagerly anticipated the next sighting, song, or performance.

You once asked, “How does it feel?”
Today, it feels broken. 💔

Today we welcomed students from Franklin Military Academy @rpsschool_net @franklinmilitaryacademy for an inspiring engagement session powered by @rivercitydreams and supported by @dominionenergy.

From meaningful introductions to a powerful STEAM-focused presentation, students enjoyed lunch from @urbanhangsuiterva, connected with mentors, and left with resources to carry forward.

Thank you @katrinahealthyhair #luvmyhair, @bladetherapyrva @urbanhangsuiterva and John Marshall Athletics for serving as drop off locations for hygiene kits. The students appreciated them!

Every single day, we’re working to support, enhance, engage, and uplift Black businesses, community, and thought. Seriously, every day!

As you may know, Daily Menu was temporarily closed last week due to a devastating fire in Shockoe Bottom. The restaurant suffered significant damage. While the team is committed to rebuilding, their ability to do so — and to protect the livelihood of their staff — depends on all of us.

They’ve set a $10,000 goal to cover urgent repairs and reopening costs.
This is our chance to rally together. May we all chip in to ensure this Black-owned business, their vision, and their hard work don’t get lost in the ashes?

The Virginia Black Restaurant Experience #rbre365 family had the honor of witnessing the sacred union of Shane @shanerobertsthomas + Wilbert. 💍 🖤

For the past 10 years, the entire region has been greeted by Shane’s unforgettable “WELCOME” at not one, but three locations across the city. We’ve watched—and cheered on—the growth and evolution of @southernkitchen_rva Southern Kitchen, falling in love with every bite of those iconic Southern Rolls. But what we love even more is Shane—her honesty, her candidness, her sass, and her forever fly-girl spirit.

Many of us have benefitted from her brilliant business mind, marketing magic, deep-rooted relationships, and unwavering love for her family and community. She’s shared her mom, her daughters, sons, grands, and now—her HUSBAND—with all of us.
